Even those without can still find a great spot on the roughly seven miles of shoreline. Vancouver Lake Park covers 2.3 miles of that shore and provides ample places to fish and cook your catch.
It’s difficult to live in Vancouver, WA and fail to notice the Columbia. This massive river is fed by the Rocky Mountains. It’s a sought after fishing river and renowned across the country—that makes it a great place to fish locally. All you need is a bit of shoreline and you’re ready to go. Frenchman’s Bar Park provides it along with grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and drinking fountains. That’s everything you need in one place. It’s also connected by trail to Vancouver Lake Park. If you aren’t having luck at the river it’s a short 2.5-mile walk to the lake. Common fishing methods include shore fishing, trolling, and even kayak fishing on the shoreline for those willing to anchor. Just make sure to check seasonal regulations.

As a man-made pond, it was first filled and stocked in 1973. That tradition has continued ever since and young fishers’ can enjoy a guaranteed catch on a fish stocking day. Klineline Park is open nearly every day and provides year-round fishing.
